Ted Grobicki:
Ted is recognized as one the top mining people in the world. He has extensive experience in corporate and financial management and in the fields of mergers, acquisitions and corporate restructuring and his experience encompasses activities in Southern Africa, North and South America, Australia, Russia and South-East Asia. He retired in May 2006 from the position of Executive Director at Harmony Gold Mining Company, the fifth largest gold mining company in the world, where he had held several senior executive roles in South Africa, Australia and Canada respectively. He was part of the team that envisaged and executed the strategies and actions which transformed Harmony from a lease-bound loss-making company into one of the largest and most dynamic integrated gold mining enterprises in the world. He has during his career served on the Boards of 15 different mining and exploration companies and was previously Chief Executive for South Africa of Texas Gulf Inc (a senior US minerals and oil company which was subsequently taken over by Elf Acquitaine of France). Ted is a healthy and fit 61-year old, who is an active investor in several mining ventures and stays familiar with current developments in the mining industry.
Vernon Rice:
Vernon is an experienced stock broker and entrepreneur. He entered the stock broking industry in 1970, was admitted as a member of the JSE in 1971, and was a partner in several stock broking enterprises before founding Rice Rinaldi Securities in 1989. The company was acquired by Imara SP Reid in 2003. In addition to his stock broking interests Vernon has founded and participated in building several successful unlisted businesses in various fields. He is presently the owner of the Knysna Oyster Company. Vernon plays bridge at provincial representative level and is currently the non-playing captain of the South African Bridge Team.
Richard Doyle:
Richard left a Royal Society Fellowship and academic career at the University of Cambridge in 1998 to go into business. Since then he has patented a number of technologies, most of which are commercialized and one of which is now being used in the production of new motor vehicles. Richard has managed over R1 billion of private and public venture funding in the UK and South Africa invested into early stage technology opportunities. Richard is an approved investment manager in the UK (FSA IMC). He has also provided advisory services and new business development assistance, through Scientific Generics in the UK and Incipio IP Management and Deloitte Consulting in South Africa, to clients around the globe including, inter alia, Norton, ABB, Invensys, NCR, Bosch-Siemens, Disco Corporation, Anglo Coal, Element Six and Harmony Gold. These services have seen clients enter new technology spaces ahead of their competitors in application areas that include sensors, batteries, solar power and advanced diamond cutting and sintering methods. Richard is a non-executive Director of Wits Commercial Enterprises, is the (non-executive) Managing Director of Vertical Capital Partners and Verified Technologies and is the executive Managing Director of Earth Metallurgical Solutions.
